Thanks to the 2018 Kia Stinger, Kia Motors is marking the dawn of a new era in the company's history. The five-passenger sportback charges to the front of a segment that's currently dominated by European manufacturers, and it promises to be the highest-performance production vehicle in Kia history.

The Stinger will be offered with a choice of two turbocharged engines that pair to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and can be configured with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Theta II engine makes 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the 3.3-liter twin turbo V6 Lambda II engine generates 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque -- racing to a 0-60 mph time that surpasses that of the six-cylinder Porsche Panamera.

In a press release, Orth Hedrick, Vice President, Product Planning, Kia Motors America, commented, "Unlike any Kia that has come before it, the Stinger really is a dream car for us and after years of commitment and hard work from a passionate group of designers, engineers and executives around the world, that dream is now a reality. From its GT concept-car origins to the years of tuning and refining on the legendary Nürburgring circuit, no detail was too small to be obsessed over, and the result is simply stunning."

At Fox Kia, we're looking forward to taking a turn behind the wheel of the new Kia Stinger when it's released at the end of the year.
