It's been a think piece for years, but Kia sure showed a masterful grasp of the concept of a cutting-edge fastback sedan at the North American International Auto Show. GT-styled, with an electronically adjustable suspension, Dynamic Stability Damping Control, a Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber (CPA) torque converter, and rear- or all-wheel drive options, Kia demonstrated that the 2018 Kia Stinger is soon to be more than a great idea.

And wrapping our heads around it here at Fox Kia was an even more exciting thought-experiment. Stinger unveiled shock softening and stiffening capabilities operable via Personal, Eco, Sport, Comfort and Smart drive modes, so you can drive with your choice of razor-sharp cornering, or with improved high-speed stability. Gearbox shift management can be foregone by selecting gears manually with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters when precision response is the order of the day. And, whether the road ahead is wet or dry, Stinger's all-wheel-drive and Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control help power through hazardous conditions by balancing power and braking. For the feel of control underfoot, rear-wheel-drive mechanical limited slip differential distributes power evenly among wheels.

For now, we'll have to leave the concept-dreaming to the experts at Kia, but you don't have to wait for later 2017 to explore our five-star lineup of 2017 sedans, from Cadenza and Forte to Optima, Optima Hybrid and RIO. Drop by our Grand Rapids, MI showroom and schedule a test drive today!
