Look out, Prius. There's a new kid in town.
The 2017 Kia Niro was released only yesterday at the Chicago Auto Show, but it's already turning heads and capturing hearts, as what we can only call the best new thing since Kia's last big announcement.
The Niro is the solution for drivers who have currently been frustrated by their rather limited options for new hybrid cars in Grand Rapids. The Soul EV offers space and fuel savings, the Optima Hybrid offers decent economy and style, but both have their shortcomings if what you're really looking for is a car that can do it all.
This subcompact hybrid crossover should be able to check all of the boxes. It's large and spacious, looks fantastic, and--with an advanced system of gas engine + electric motor + lithium-ion battery, it should be able to live up to its expected 50 MPG. But even if it caps out around 40+ MPG, it will still be an incredible buy for Michigan drivers.
