If you were nominated as Kia's "NBA Rookie of the Year," what would be your first action? Well, if you were like this year's winner, Damian Lillard, your first thoughts would be directed towards charitable actions. Shortly after being awarded the honor, Lillard announced Kia would be donating a new Kia Sorento LX SUV to Lifeworks NM at his request. The car will be utilized by Project Network.
Begun in 1989, Project Network aids chemically addicted, pregnant women to end their substance abuse cycles. The program features quality, culturally-based social and clinical services to predominantly African women and their families. Every year, the program serves 75 women and 150 infants and children. Now, this program has another valuable resource- a new Kia Sorento.
Project Network is an off-shot of LifeWorks NW, a non-profit agency based in Portland, Oregon, that provide social services revolving around mental health and addiction, thanks to the help of community support and private funding. The organization helps children and families, young adults, and older adults, creating a healthy community.
