Have you heard of the J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study? Now in its 18th year, this study measures buyers' satisfaction with their vehicles after 90 days of ownership, asking them to rate vehicles in 77 categories based on Comfort, Style, Features, Performance, and Design. Over 83,000 owners participated in the annual study.
For the second consecutive year, the Kia Soul grabbed the highest ranking in the "Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV)" category, while the Kia Rio and Kia Optima models came in second for their respective categories.
So, what exactly do drivers love about the new Kia Soul? Well, it comes with an incredibly unique style and a fun-to-drive nature, as well as incredible features for its very affordable starting price of only $14,400 for the base model. The new Soul also comes with two-tone cabin color schemes, illuminated audio speakers, and other special touches that are usually overlooked in non-luxury vehicles.
Then, of course, there's the fact that its achieves excellent fuel economy ratings, at 25 mpg city/ 30 mpg highway with the base engine, as well as the standard and incredible Kia warranty.
Of course, those are only a few of the reasons the Soul was rated so highly. There was an increased emphasis on technology in the survey this year, and as Kia excels in the area, that led to a rather high score for the Soul.
