JASON POWELL IN KIA WORLD COMPETITION

Fox Motors' Jason Powell placed first in the world in Kia Engine Repair and Engine Drivability at the Kia Skill World Cup in Seoul, South Korea out of 63 technicians and 45 countries represented on June 15, 2012.

The competition began as a 50 question online test, given to all the Kia Master Certified technicians.  The test covered areas of Kia's powertrain designs, electrical systems and onboard vehicle management software.  Powell scored in the top 16 for the central region, which qualified him for the competition that took place in Irvine, CA on May 31st.  Powell then was one of four technicians to represent the United States in Korea.

Powell's favorite part about the actual competition was going up on stage to receive his award while representing both the United States and Fox Kia.  Powell's experience extended from a technological one to a cultural learning experience stating, "The part I enjoyed most was learning about the Korean culture and learning how they do and view things.  There are a lot of things that are similar in the United States, but there are also a lot of things that are a little different."

Powell's mindset and openness toward learning has shaped him in to the technician that he is today.  His love for Kia began by "playing" around with them in his garage with his father.  He has been working on Kia's for 12 years, and still enjoys it.  "You're always learning," said Powell, "Every time you touch a car you learn something you didn't know before."
